SPRINGFIELD, IL, March 10, 2021 – Del’s Popcorn Shop, a confectionery that has been in business since 1934, announced today that it is launching a new program to sell franchises, beginning their expansion efforts in the Midwest, then going nationwide. The franchise, which will provide gourmet popcorn, fudge, nuts, and candy, will operate under the Del’s Popcorn Shop Development, LLC (DPSD) franchisor organization.

“My siblings and I have been developing our gourmet popcorn brand for over 40 years,” said Shellie Jacobs, the Managing Member of the LLC, and a store owner in Springfield since 1984. “Now we’re ready for more growth and are seeking motivated professionals to join our program”. The franchise program will initially be rolled out in Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Kentucky and Tennessee, with national expansion to follow. The Del’s Popcorn Shop concept could easily expand nationally right away according to Lou Ann Jacobs, another member of DPSD and the owner of the Decatur, IL Del’s store from 1979 to 2009.

During its 86-year history, Del’s Popcorn Shop has grown from a tiny operation offering fresh popcorn and oil roasted peanuts to a gourmet popcorn operation offering 30 flavors of popcorn, six flavors of hand-whipped fudge, freshly roasted cashews, almonds and pecans in addition to peanuts, seasonal items such as chocolate covered strawberries, peanut brittle and caramel apples and more than 100 kinds of chocolates and candies. Some stores also offer hand-dipped ice cream and soft drinks.

New franchise owners can expect to benefit from the Jacobs family’s 135+ years of combined experience behind them as they open their own Del’s Popcorn Shop location. Market research indicates that Americans eat around 15 billions quarts of popcorn a year and the Global Popcorn Market is projected to reach over $15 billion by 2023.
